Overview.
The Smith Collective is a large-scale residential precinct transformed from the 2018 Commonwealth Games Athletes’ Village into Australia’s largest Build-to-Rent community.
Designed to support modern urban living at scale, the precinct required a connectivity solution capable of delivering seamless performance across more than 1,250 apartments and shared community spaces.
Additionally, Gigafy refreshed The Smith Collective’s internet infrastructure at the end of 2025 to deliver gigabit speeds throughout the complex.

Gigafy's Role.
Gigafy designed and delivered a precinct-wide, high-performance connectivity network tailored to the scale and complexity of The Smith Collective.
The solution features a single SSID Wi-Fi network across the entire precinct, allowing residents to move seamlessly throughout the development without interruption. The network was deployed rapidly, with a full rollout completed in just three weeks, enabling residents to move in with instant connectivity from day one.
The Outcome.
- 1,252 apartments connected
- Full precinct rollout completed in 3 weeks
- Over 80% resident uptake within two months
- Seamless, building-wide connectivity across apartments and communal spaces
- Long-term infrastructure supporting ongoing revenue and reduced operational complexity
- Gigabit download speeds now available following an infrastructure refresh in late 2025
